Ireland - Day 2

This video shows what will probably be the highlight of Kristina's ENTIRE trip: she got to feed a baby sheep from a bottle. This was the first of many animal friends we have made thus far on the trip.

Here are a few photos from our trip to the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs were a runner-up in the competition for "the next seven wonders of the world." After visiting them, I truly understand why. I hope you can appreciate them from the pictures, though I know it's not the same as seeing them for yourself.

If you look closely, you can actually see a landmass. There were three islands in the visible distance (once the clouds lifted for the day).

This is a picture of The Burren. We hiked up this mountain! You cannot tell from the picture, but many types of flora actually grow within the gaps between the limestone.

Kristina found this hilarious! The roads are incredibly narrow in rural Ireland. At one point, TWO buses had to drive in reverse for about a mile down windy roads so that we could get by.

Ireland - Day 1

 

To begin our travels, we departed on a flight from Austin on the afternoon of June 14th. We flew to JFK, and headed to Dublin from there. It was an overnight flight from JFK to Dublin... Little did we know that they did not actually plan to let us sleep! Passengers were awoken about an hour into the flight and told they must raise their seats, as the staff were serving a meal. This was at midnight Eastern Time! We were awoken several other times during the flight. Needless to say, we were walking zombies our first day in Dublin. We still managed to explore much of our surrounding area, including Trinity University, which was directly across the street from our hostel.

Late Start

Hi all! I want to apologize for getting such a late start on the blog. Thus far, the Internet situation in Europe has been a nightmare. At the first hostel, the connection was non-existent; at the second, it was described as "hit or miss, mostly miss;" at the third, we had to pay; and at the fourth, it had completely crashed. Needless to say, it has been a frustrating experience. I will try to be faithful about getting it up-to-date and keeping it updated, but I cannot make any promises. Miss you all!
